Down and Out

After graduating with ‘golden boy’ status from St. John’s College in Brantford, Eznet inventor Tom Stewart found himself spinning in circles in the football field at midnight, bottle in hand.  With no grades, money or plans, Stewart became an under-the-bridge wino, town drunk, homeless and embarrassment.  His go-to comfort was the back of his van.  He was frequently jailed for sleeping on the sidewalk and street fights.  Officers never charged Tom, feeling sympathy and sadness.  Then, after a vicious street fight, in which onlookers thought he was dead, after 4 days in a hospital bed and 4 years under a bridge, Stewart abruptly changed direction.

Getting Better.

Stewart drove to Toronto, an uncomfortable foreign territory he had never been to.  He discovered a laneway at Bloor and Spadina, where he set up a campsite for a year, 1979-1980.  Ultimately, the self-taught Stewart became a television writer, director and field producer for CTV, CFTO, Global, Ch. 4 Buffalo and a studio director at CHCH.  He wrote, directed and produced Jim Carrey’s first broadcast video for Global, worked closely with Ronnie Hawkins, Ms. Universe Karen Baldwin, Rolling Stone keyboardist Iain Stewart and more.  He raised $1.4 million and created and was an Executive Producer for “No Place Like Home”, a 6-part drama: “Tom Stewart has created a Canadian gem”, Jim Bawden, Toronto Star.  Stewart was invited to the Gemini awards.

Eznet is Born

Stewart was offered a contract with Global TV to write, direct and produce “alphabet troupe”, his own creation.  While preparing “alphabet troupe”, Stewart became frustrated with the portable soccer nets he purchased for his scholarship-bound daughters.  He made his own in the backyard from plumbers tubing, to do what he wanted: light, easy, in a bag and unbreakable.  Parents, coaches and schools began ordering them.  It was then that Stewart was selected from inventors across Canada to host Patent Bending on Discovery Channel, a 13-part invention series that became a #1 hit nationwide.  He took 14 weeks away from Eznet’s preparations to host.  Stewart then drove a warehouse forktruck for 10 years and refined, patented, field-tested, trademarked Eznet.

Eznet became the Official Net of Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer, Hometown Hockey with Ron McLean, London Catholic School Board, the Team Trainer for Homeless World Cup Teams, and is in 25 countries on all continents, with $500,000 in sales and not 1 return or complaint, only true praise.  “It took a soccer parent to get it right for soccer parents”  All this above was only possible because of the loyalty manifested by his high school girlfriend, now partner for 52 years, Lynne.  Lynne only supported, never doubted, was there every minute.

“When parents write to tell me how happy they are with their Eznet, I just love it. Please read Eznet reviews.”  Canadian Inventor Tom Stewart- Soccer father.

Soccer father, Tom Stewart, purchased many backyard nets for his two provincial-playing daughters.  They failed: nets not daughters.

He decided to design a safe, simple, sturdy backyard net.  He left a TV career, where he had written, directed and produced with Jim Carrey, Ronnie Hawkins, Rolling Stone Keyboardist Iain Stewart, Ms. Universe, and was the Creator and Executive Producer of the prime-time drama ‘No Place Like Home’.  He received a letter from the Prime Minister’s wife for his PSA’s to reduce child abuse.

Stewart Co-hosted ‘Patent Bending’ on Discovery Channel.

Eznet is now recognized for excellence in 25 countries spanning each continent, with customers and partners including Homeless World Cup events in Scotland, Norway, Mexico, Wales, and USA , Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, London Catholic School Board, Allstate Insurance, Dr. Vanessa Martinez-Lagunas, Steven Caldwell, Karl Dewazien, CAF, Game Awareness, Canada Scores, and hundreds of clubs, academies and families.  Gatorade, Mr. Freezee, Coca-Cola, Robbie International, Scotiabank, and Canada Soccer have placed their logo on Eznet for events.

Design Difference: Stewart examined full-frame nets and found a universal flaw: all frames and meshes acted independently.

He created an ‘Exoskeletal’ system where the mesh worked WITH the frame, to hold the full frame but let it move.

The frame slides together in 60 seconds.  The mesh wraps on in 60 seconds and secures the frame, but lets it bend to absorb impact.

Youth love the solid full frame with real crossbar for backyard games and training!

And SAFE.  Crossbar hanging worries are eliminated!  It recoils and returns.  Child head and neck trauma from goal post impact gone!  Eznet recoils.

And with no stress-points, Eznet lasts years: 8 is our longest!

FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS

Tom Stewart is a former homeless man, who lived in a van in a downtown Toronto laneway in 1979–80.

He became a self-taught high-level television Writer, Director, Producer & Studio Director for CTV, CFTO, Global, CHCH and Ch. 4 Buffalo.

He was the Creator and an Executive Producer for the prime time dramatic TV series “No Place Like Home”, featuring Jennifer Dale. He worked closely with Jim Carrey, Rolling Stone keyboardist Ian Stewart and more.

He was selected to be a TV host for Discovery Channel’s 13-part series “Patent Bending.”

Stewart left this and worked in a warehouse for a decade to develop a quality soccer net for families because all he purchased for his children failed in some capacity.

He succeeded. Please read Eznet reviews. Thank you. Now in 25 countries.
